Part 2

Branding, Poster & Publication Design

Part 2's aim is to attract the younger generation to shop pre-loved; giving clothes a second chance and making a lasting impact on the environment.

Part 2 is a shop-in-shop, collaborating with fast fashion shops like, Primark, New Look etc. Essentially, Part 2 would be given clothing that hasn’t been sold, returned or donated.

Key Research

The average life for clothing is 2.2 year in the UK. By simply wearing this item for an extra 9 months can reduce its carbon footprint by 30%.

~ WRAP UK: Extending the life of clothes

One in three women feeling that their clothes are outdated after less than three wears.

~ Findings from Barndardo’s research: ‘Once worn, thrice shy – British women’s wardrobe habits exposed!’ (2015)

If everyone bought just one pre-loved item a year, it would save 449 million lbs of waste annually, equivalent to the weight of 1 million Polar bears.

Experiments

Expanding Part 2, I started to think about what this would look like in the real world.

At Part 2 you can swap, buy or rent clothing, this helping prevent people over buying clothing they don’t need. By having more options like renting and swapping, it allows them the opportunity to prevent wasteful purchasing which will help save the environment.

The purpose of these posters is to raise awareness of fast fashion and the impacts that you can have from buying pre loved clothing.

Attracting younger generations to shop at Part 2 and making them aware of which shops are taking part in the collaboration and when it would be.

Final Posters

One poster shows a large area, “Sheffield Part 2” indicating the different shops and locations for each event. A second poster specifically for a shop, “Primark Part 2” explains Part 2’s aim and displays when, where and what you can do there. Finally, the third poster showcases the “Why Part 2”, an informative poster for the audience showing the problems with fast fashion, how Part 2 can help and what we all can do to help.

Publication

Making Process

Developing Part 2 further, I started to create a publication to raise awareness of the impacts of fast fashion and what Part 2 aims to do.

Experimenting with form, french folds and pre-loved materials. I created a publication that looks like a care label which you would find within your clothing.

Final Publication

Developing this publication from recycled paper to regular white paper to pre-used publications - fitting in with my theme of pre-loved. To attract the younger generation into interacting with our products, I included a few discounts to promote Part 2 and attract them.
